FIRE Financial Independence Calculator

Calculate when you can achieve financial independence and retire early with this FIRE calculator.

How it works

Enter your annual income, expenses, monthly savings, current net worth and expected return on your investments. The calculator applies the 4% rule and tells you how many years to financial independence and the total wealth you need to accumulate.

What FIRE is

FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) is a movement to reach financial freedom as soon as possible through a high savings rate, low-cost passive investing (index funds) and lifestyle control.

The 4% rule

It states you can sustainably withdraw 4% of your invested wealth every year. To live on $20,000 per year you need $500,000 invested. It's a guideline based on the Trinity study.
